The Hush team were handed the task in South wales of reducing both airborne and vibrational noise being transferred into USW’s media studio from their indoor 3G football pitch next door that tends to host Cardiff City’s youth training. The site had terrible issues with footballs hitting the adjoining wall along with the referee whistle disrupting the media studios recording process.
After a thorough inspection of the area, Hush proposed an independent wall solution complete with mass loaded vinyl and resilient bar upgrades to all perimeter walls within the area. Hush also installed an acoustic high density fire-rated door equipped with perimeter and drop down seals to create an airtight seal, along help prevent sound transference in the door area. Hush had also determined flanking was an issue on site and to combat this an acoustic ceiling tile pad was incorporated into the scope of works.
After the acoustic work was completed USW also requested Hush to complete a 360 degree “infinity curve”. This would create a finish in the room that not only made the room seem infinite in space to a camera, but also after being painted in Chroma Key green screen paint allowed for media editing to take place. Once this aspect was complete it really tied the project together and was the epitome of a turnkey project.
Upon handover Hush had successfully delivered a project that not only performed well on acoustic reduction, but also was finished to a great standard allowing the students to also perform their media studies in a private creative environment.
